The Bing Bong Loading Facility (port) and shipping channel was established in 1994 specifically for MRM operations. To support environmental compliance requirements, IPE monitors marine water quality, off-shore and coastal sediments, and local biota including seagrass beds, coral reefs, and marine fauna. The comprehensive suite of monitoring programs have been designed to identify any potential impacts from shipping activities that could adversely influence the marine environment of the Gulf of Carpentaria and Sir Edward Pellew Islands. Data collected during monitoring undergoes robust analyses and serves as a valuable resource for operational decision-making processes. IPE also undertakes technical studies required to inform dredge management planning and monitoring.
