Aquatic Surveys

At Indo-Pacific Environmental, we recognise the importance of understanding and monitoring the complexities of aquatic environments. Our Aquatic Surveys are designed to provide comprehensive assessments of the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of water bodies, including lakes, rivers, and oceans. Through meticulous data collection and analysis, we aim to unravel the intricate web of aquatic ecosystems, shedding light on their health, biodiversity, and resilience.

Benthic Surveys

Assessment of the physical and biological characteristics of the seafloor and other underwater habitats.

Fish Surveys

Assessment of fish populations, including species composition, abundance, and distribution.

Habitat Assessments

Evaluation of the physical and biological characteristics of aquatic habitats, including wetlands, seagrass beds, and coral reefs.

Water Quality Assessments

Evaluation of chemical and physical parameters, such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, hydrocarbons and metals in aquatic environments.

Macroinvertebrate Surveys

Assessment of the abundance, diversity, and distribution of aquatic insects and other invertebrates.

Zooplankton Surveys

Assessment of the abundance, diversity, and distribution of microscopic aquatic plants and animals.

Oceanographic Surveys

Measurement of ocean currents, temperatures, and other physical parameters.

Trawling Surveys

Collection of targeted marine species including fish, crustaceans and molluscs using a specialised trawl net, providing valuable insight on species composition, abundance, size distribution, and habitat characteristics.

Dive Surveys

Underwater observations and data collection using divers, remotely operated vehicles (ROV) and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).

What are Aquatic Surveys?

Aquatic surveys are assessments of the physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of aquatic environments, such as lakes, rivers, and oceans. They are conducted to understand the distribution, abundance, and diversity of aquatic species, as well as the physical and chemical properties of the water, such as temperature, dissolved oxygen, and salinity.

Aquatic surveys can be conducted using a variety of methods, including visual observations, the use of underwater cameras, trawling, and water sampling. Data collected during aquatic surveys can be used to monitor changes in aquatic ecosystems, to assess the impacts of human activities, such as pollution and overfishing, and to guide the management and conservation of aquatic resources.

Aquatic surveys can also be used to monitor the health of important aquatic habitats, such as coral reefs, wetlands, and seagrass beds, and to assess the impacts of climate change on aquatic ecosystems.
